2009-04-25 Winners announced / Festival's Grand Finale

The 6th edition of the International Animated Film Festival has come to the end. We know all the winners.

Main Jury verdict is as follows:

Grand Prix and Golden Snail Statutte for the film "Malban" dir. Elodie Bouédec (France, Belgium)

The Grand Prix winner has also been granted with the award from Toon Boom studio.

Honourable Awards:

"She who measures" dir. Veljko Popović (Croatia)

"Chicken stew" dir. Joana Toste (Portugal)

Jury of the Association of Polish Filmmakers decided to give the main prize to Balbina Bruszewska and her film "City sails on". Two honourable awards went to Szymon Łukasik for "Mr. F" and Paweł Prewencki for "Bird’s song".

The Festival Audience Award was given to "Signalis" by Adrian Flückinger (Switzerland).

Official Jury verdict:
Sadly this festival only allows one prize and two special mentions.  This made our job very tough.
So before we announce those special mentions and the prize, we’d like to mention just a few of the other films that we thoroughly enjoyed.
These were: 'The City Sails' on by Balbina Bruszewska, 'Employment' by Santiago ‘BOU’ Grasso, 'Hot Dog' by Bill Plympton and Crocodile by Kaspar Jancis.
Now to the official mentions and the grand prix – all are films that we wanted to view over and over again:
The first special mention goes to a film which deals with a contemporary problem and suggests a future for our consumer society.  The choice of images complements the theme perfectly and creates a palpable atmosphere.  This special mention goes to 'She Who Measures' by Veljko Popovic.
The second goes to a film with a completely original concept and structure, a film which subverts a revered musical tradition to create a very funny animated musical.  This special mention goes to 'Chicken Stew' by Joana Toste.
And now to the big prize, the Golden Snail.  This is a film which uses new technologies in a brilliant new way to create a mysterious, poetic world which  seems to exist inside a wonderful painting.  Yet it also speaks of beauty in the small things of everyday life.

2009-03-25 6th IAFF ReAnimacja: opening and closing ceremony

Friday 24th April:

L.Stadt concert accompanied by multimedia presentation of Piotr Pasiewicz works.

Sunday 26th April:

We are thrilled to invite you to Lodz premier of Jedné noci v jednom meste directed by Jan Balej, who already received Czech Lion and Grand Prix Monstra Lisboa 2007. The film is a feature stop-motion horror animation with elements of dark comedy.

Closing ceremony will take place in the evening when the Main Jury verdict will be announced along with the Polish Association of Filmmakers award and special distinctions. We will also present awarded films.

After the ceremony we invite you to the festival banquet and a latino music concert performed by Coca Loca

(Wytwornia Club).

2009-01-14 Call for entries!

This year Festival programme offers screenings of the best animated pieces from all over the world and Poland alike. As always, IAFF ReAnimacja is looking for talented animators and filmmakers to submit their works to the Festival competition. The most interesting films will be selected and presented as a part of the Main Competition. The Festival Jury will award the Golden Snail statuette only to the best!!
